This event will take place on the south lawn of the arboretum near the entrance to the courtyard. Bring your own blanket or chair to lounge on the sidewalk or grass. Seating will not be provided.Â
Christina Silvius will perform an improvised soundscape with amplified viola, voice, looping station, and electronics. This performance invites the listener to take a moment of reflection and witness the beauty of magnolia trees in bloom, providing a soundtrack for the beginnings of spring in the arboretum. Bring a blanket and spend a restful afternoon in nature!
Christina Silvius is an improviser, violist, and multidisciplinary artist based in Kansas City, Missouri. She builds immersive layered soundscapes with viola, vocals, and live electronics. Each performance is unique in that she plays to the space she is in. In nature, sounds such as birdsong, wind in the trees, and crickets humming at dusk are treated as musical collaborators. Her practice is informed by sounds of nature, Deep Listening, and sound healing. Christina released her album Solstice at Sunset for Manheim Gardens in August 2025. She is currently a studio resident at the Charlotte Street Foundation in Kansas City.
